How to re-import transactions after a token update in Koinly
If you’ve recently encountered an issue with Koinly importing the wrong token, or you need to update your transactions after a token update, this guide will walk you through the steps to re-import your transactions properly.
Before proceeding, if Koinly imported the wrong token, please refer to this article: Change Currency (if Koinly imported the wrong token).
Step-by-Step Guide
To ensure that your transactions are correctly updated after a token update, follow these steps:
1. Filter by the token that needs updating
Go to the transaction list and use the filters to show only the transactions involving the token that needs to be updated.
2. Split all trades
If the affected token was part of a trade, you’ll need to split all relevant trades. This separates the transactions, making it easier to manage.
3. Filter again
After splitting trades, filter by the token once more to ensure that you are seeing all transactions related to the token that needs updating.
4. Bulk delete the transactions and select “Delete Permanently”
Once you have filtered all relevant transactions, use the bulk delete function. Make sure to select “delete permanently” to ensure that the transactions are fully removed from your account. For more details on permanent deletion, refer to this guide: Deleting and Permanently Deleting Transactions.
5. Go to the troubleshoot page
After deleting the transactions, navigate to the Troubleshoot page for the relevant wallet or exchange in your Koinly account.
6. Remove “Start Import From” date if applicable
If there’s a “Start import from” date in the settings for the wallet, make sure to remove it. This will ensure that the API resyncs the full transaction history from the beginning.
7. Resync the wallet
Finally, perform a full resync of the wallet by selecting Resync from the beginning 📖. This will pull the updated transactions back into Koinly.
Important limitations to keep in mind
• Previously deleted transactions: If you have deleted other transactions in the past (unrelated to this update), these transactions may be re-imported during the resync process.
• API changes: If the API has undergone significant upgrades or changes, there is a chance that duplicates might be imported, as Koinly now imports data differently than it did before.
