Koinly reports

Complete Tax Report

  • A comprehensive report in PDF format that includes a detailed capital gains summary, other gains, a complete list of all capital gain transactions, end-of-year balances, an extensive asset summary, and all income transactions.

  • You can view screenshots of all the sections of this report on this page.

Transaction Report

  • A file in CSV format that includes all your transactions for the year. This includes transaction types, transaction date/time and received/sent amounts.
Although it is not a backup and restore file (it cannot be easily imported back into Koinly to restore your wallets), it is a good archive of your data.

Capital gains Report

  • This is a CSV containing all your disposals with the gain/loss calculated for each trade. This includes the asset, date and time acquired/sold, costs and proceeds, and gain/loss.

Income Report

  • This is a CSV containing all your Income transactions (airdrops, forks, interest, staking rewards, etc). This includes the income transaction date/time, income type, asset, amount, value, description, and wallet name.

Expenses Report

  • This is a CSV containing all your transactions that have been tagged as a Cost. This does not include your trading fees which are already accounted for in the capital gains report.

End of Year Holdings Report and Beginning of Year Holdings Report

  • This is a CSV containing your holdings at the end of the tax year (or the beginning of the tax year). This report includes your holding amounts, value, and acquisition costs, for all assets held at the end (or beginning) of the year.

Asset Summary Report

  • A list of all assets traded throughout the year, together with Gains and Losses (separately) related to each asset.

Gifts, Donations & Lost Assets

  • This is a CSV containing all transactions that have been tagged as a Gift, Donation, or Lost.

Balances per wallet

  • A PDF showing the balance of each token broken down by wallet.

Tax Software Reports

Turbotax Report

  • This is a CSV that contains your transactions in a format that can be directly imported into the Turbotax tax software.

  • We have reports both for TurboTax Online and Desktop (TurboTax CD/DVD) versions.

TaxAct Report

  • CSV file in a format that can be imported directly to TaxAct.

Localized Tax Reports

Aside from these, Koinly can also generate a number of localized tax reports for different countries such as:

  • USA: Form 8949 and Schedule D

  • UK: HMRC Capital Gains Summary

  • Sweden: K4 report (both in PDF and SRU/digital format)

  • Norway: RF1159 (from 2022 this report is no longer required by Skatteetaten so Norwegian users can generate the Complete Tax Report instead.)

  • Switzerland: Valuation Report

  • Finland: Lomake 9

  • Canada: Schedule 3

  • Australia: ATO Summary, Trading Stock Report

  • France: Formulaire 2086

  • Spain: Capital Gains Summary

New reports are added all the time so sign in to the App and go to the Tax Reports page for an up-to-date listing of all available tax reports.

Dual Nationality

To download your reports for more than one country, please purchase the "Dual nationality" add-on via our Plans page. After that, you will be able to download the reports for one more country, after changing it in your Settings.

Good to know:

  • this option is most useful if both countries have the same cost-basis method

  • This add-on is great for you if you are a tax resident of two countries (both of which use the same cost-basis method). For example, if you're a US citizen who needs to file two tax reports

  • If you moved from one country to another, this add-on may not be useful to you as there may be tax and cost-basis implications mid-year.

As always, if in doubt, speak with a tax accountant.
โ€‹

How to use the dual nationality add-on

  1. Download your first report as normal

  2. Go to https://app.koinly.io/p/settings and change your home country and currency

  3. Review your Tax summary/figures and once you confirm their accuracy, you can generate your second report

Reports in other languages

The standard language for our reports is English with the exception of the following countries:

  • Austria

  • France

  • German

  • Italy

  • Spain

The "complete tax report" will be generated in the local language for users with the country setting of Spain, Italy, France, Germany, and Austria.
