API sync > Ignore reported balances

Written by Robin Singh

This is a setting that can be enabled for any wallet that is synced through an API.

APIs will report the current balances of your wallets but in some cases, these reported balances can be wrong (most commonly when staking as some APIs don't consider staked assets when reporting the balances).

If your reported balances are wrong but the calculated balances are correct, you can choose to ignore the reported balances and only see calculated balances on your Dashboard and the wallet's page.

☝️ Ignoring reported balances doesn't affect reports

Reported balances are shown on the dashboard and wallet page, but are not used in calculations or in any reports.

How to enable "Ignore reported balances"

  1. Go to the API's settings
Click on the affected wallet and then click on the Auto-Sync enabled banner

  2. Toggle "Ignore reported balances" under advanced
Expand Advanced Settings and toggle the option to ON, confirm change by clicking Save & Sync

How to hide the balance of one token

You can choose to hide the balance mismatch of a specific token if you don't want to fix the error but also don't want to see it anymore. Mind that this doesn't fix the issue and Koinly will still show the reported balance in your dashboard (unless you toggle "Ignore reported balances" to OFF).

Hiding a specific token is usually useful to hide rounding errors, spam tokens, or other issues you believe are not worth fixing.

To hide the reported balance of one token, click the crossed out eye icon next to it - you'll need to hover with your mouse to see it:

ℹ️ The imbalance will be hidden as long as the difference doesn't change

How to unhide the balance of one token

If you hid some imbalance by mistake, the only way to restore it is by:

  • Delete one transaction (any transaction) with this token from the wallet

  • Wait for the recalculations to finish

  • The imbalance should now be visible - restore the deleted transaction
