How can I share access to my portfolio?

Written by Robin Singh

You can invite your accountant (or your colleague, partner) to your Koinly account so they can view your data and help you with preparing a tax report.

If you have more than one Koinly account (e.g. personal and IRA) you can invite "yourself" (the other email) so you can switch between your own portfolios without the need to log off and log back in.

To invite someone to your account:

  1. Log in to your Koinly account and go to Settings in the top right corner

  2. Click on Team on the left-hand side

  3. Click Invite, add in the email address and press Send invite

ℹ️ Team page is only available to account owners

Only account owners can invite other people to their portfolio. If you do not see the "Team" page in your settings, it means that you're the one invited.

You can contact the accountant who created your portfolio to transfer its ownership to you

How to access the account you were invited to

If you received an invitation to someone else's account:

  1. Click the invitation link in the email
If you do not see the invitation email, check your spam/junk folder.

  2. Log in to your Koinly account.
If you do not have an account, sign up for a free account

  3. Switch between accounts
You can switch between your account and the account you were invited to by clicking on your avatar:

Shared permissions

Your accountant/team member will have full edit rights once invited.

✅ This means that they can:

  • Add and delete transactions

  • Add and delete wallets

  • Tag, edit, merge, and split transactions

  • Change your account settings

❌ However, they cannot:

  • Invite other people to your account (they don't have access to the "Team" page)

  • Retrieve the API secret from already set-up wallets

    • This means that even if you created an API key that allows for withdrawals from your exchange (which we recommend not to do), your accountant will have no way of using it

  • See your Affiliate dashboard (if you're an affiliate)
