Tax plans

Free plan

You can test Koinly for free to check how the data gets imported and how gains are calculated before purchasing a paid plan. On a free plan:

✅ Import unlimited wallets

✅ Import up to 10,000 transactions (across all wallets)

✅ View imported transactions and gains calculated on each trade

✅ View the tax summary on the Tax Report page

A Free plan has some limitations:

❌ Can't generate any reports

❌ No access to the "Cost analysis" tab on each transaction

❌ Can't use "Bulk edit in Excel" feature

If you import more than 10,000 transactions on a free plan, all calculations will be halted, so the balances of assets on the wallet and the data on the dashboard may look implausible. If this happens, you will need to switch to a paid plan that covers the entire number of transactions for gains calculations to be restored.

Paid plans

Koinly offers 4 different plans you can purchase, depending on the number of transactions you need to cover:

Newbie

Up to 100 transactions

Hodler

Up to 1.000 transactions

Trader

Up to 3.000 transactions

Pro

Up to 10.000 transactions

If you need more transactions, you can purchase additional ones in packages of 1000

Our pricing structure may seem complicated especially if you have a lot of transactions across multiple years and need reports for multiple years. For more information, see:

Add-ons

Extra transactions

  • This add-on is only available for Pro plans

  • If you have over 10,000 transactions in a year (that the Pro plan allows), you can purchase extra transactions to cover them

  • For example, if you have 15,000 transactions you would purchase the Pro Plan plus 5,000 extra transactions (5 x "Extra transactions" add-on)

Dual Nationality

  • Allows you to download reports for an additional country

  • This add-on is useful if you have to file your taxes in more than one country

How to use the dual nationality add-on

  1. Purchase a plan with the dual nationality add-on

  2. Go to your Settings and make sure that the correct country is selected (one of the two you want to generate the plans for)

  3. Generate a tax report (or multiple reports)

  4. Go to your Settings and change the country

  5. Generate tax reports again, this time for the other country

From that moment, your plans are locked to those two countries only. If you need to generate a report for an additional country, you will need to purchase another Dual Nationality add-on

Tips for dual nationality

  • This add-on is great for you if you are a tax resident of two countries (both of which use the same cost-basis method). For example, if you're a US citizen who needs to file two tax reports

  • If you moved from one country to another, this add-on may not be useful to you as there may be tax and cost basis implications mid-year

  • Two tax reports generated using different cost basis methods will yield completely different results. This is expected

As always, if in doubt, speak with a tax accountant on how to file your taxes in two different countries with two different capital gains figures.

Daily Sync

  • Daily Sync can only be purchased with a plan for the current (ongoing) year

  • Daily sync is valid for exactly a year from the day you purchased it
Ie. Your wallets will sync automatically every day for a year

  • It automatically syncs your wallets every day - you don't have to log into Koinly and sync the wallets yourself

  • Daily sync can sync a maximum of 100 wallets at a time. If you have more wallets than that, they will be queued to sync the next day

Expert Review

  • Request an expert from our team to review your transactions

  • The review will cover the transactions in the tax year

  • If you need transactions from more than one tax year reviewed, purchase multiple Expert Review add-ons

  • This add-on is completely optional

How to buy a tax plan

  1. Go to the Plans page and select the year for your reports

  2. Choose a plan that covers your transaction count

  3. Decide if you want any add-ons with your plan (optional)

  4. Select your payment method

  5. Add a promo code if you have one

1️⃣ Visit the Plans page

Go to the Settings → Plans page and choose the financial year you need reports for:

You can click the "+" button at the end of the list if you need to purchase a plan for an earlier year like 2020, 2019, 2018, etc.

2️⃣ Select the plan

Koinly will automatically select the plan you need according to your billable transactions count and lock plans that aren't big enough to generate a tax report:

  • For the current financial year: Koinly will select a plan that covers both yearly and account-wide transaction limit

  • For historical years: Koinly will select a plan that covers the yearly limit only (assuming you will buy plans for the following years afterwards)

For more information on how our pricing model works, see:

3️⃣ Include add-ons (if you want)

There are a number of different add-ons you can buy together with your plan that you may find helpful.

4️⃣ Select your payment method

You can switch between tabs to select debit/credit card or crypto payments:

For more information on how we process crypto payments, check:

5️⃣ Add a promo code

If you have a discount code, you can enter it the box below and click "Apply coupon":

If your discount code isn’t working:

  • Verify the code for typos or validity for the selected plan.

  • Check if the code has expired.

  • Contact Koinly support if issues persist or request an alternative code.

Read more about promo codes and discounts in:

After you apply the promo code, click "Buy now" to finalize your purchase.

That's it! 🎉

After your payment is processed, you'll now be able to generate your reports from the Tax Reports page, see how in:

How to upgrade a plan

If you imported additional wallets/transactions and your transaction count exceeded the limit for the plan you bought, you need to upgrade your plan on the Plans page to account for the additional transactions.

When upgrading, you only pay the difference between the price of the plan already bought and the new plan.

To upgrade a plan:

  1. Go to the Plans page
The plan you already have will be marked green

  2. Select another higher plan to upgrade to
E.g. select "Trader" if you already have the "Newbie" plan

  3. Select Add-ons if needed

  4. Once ready, proceed to payment

If a discount code was used when purchasing the original plan, the upgrade discount ensures you won’t overspend or be charged again for the previously purchased portion.
